Feetech STS3215

Servo by Feetech, Shenzhen, CN

The STS3215 is a low-cost serial bus servo with a 12-bit magnetic encoder, metal gears and a half-duplex TTL interface that daisy-chains up to 254 units at up to 1 Mbps. Sold in 7.4 V and 12 V versions and several gear ratios, it is the actuator used in the SO-100 and SO-101 LeRobot arms, which has made it a standard part for hobby and research imitation-learning setups.

Editor's notes

Unverified (free text): official-feetech-page; 12V-variant-specs. stall_torque 2.69 Nm is a unit conversion of 27.4 kg.cm (locked-rotor at 7.4 V; 24.3 kg.cm at 6 V; rated 9 kg.cm). Input range 5-8.4 V; 0.116 s/60 deg no-load; 45.2 x 24.7 x 35 mm; stall current 3.8 A. The 1:191 ratio is a SO-ARM101 variant — the standard STS3215 is 19 kg.cm (Group F RobotShop listing, USD 34.32). The OpenELAB C018 12 V page was blocked (provenance). `sdk: python` reflects the page's mention of LeRobot/Python use; Feetech's own SDK was not fetched. Half-duplex TTL confirmed; page explicitly says RS485 transceivers are not a drop-in substitute.
